Haiti

The City of Edinburgh Methodist Church congregation is joining in prayer with Christians across the world and people of other faiths and no faith. We are praying for the people of Haiti who are suffering in their flesh, in their heart and in their soul. We are praying for people who have lost a member of their family or friends. We pray for the lonely, the elderly, the widows, the widowers and the orphans and anyone who suffers. We pray for the medical teams and volunteers from Haiti and from all over the world who are there to help the wounded. We pray for the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas (MCCA).

In the midst of disaster in Haiti,

In the rubble and destruction,

Where bodies are lying trapped next to the living,

And many are homeless and already in poverty,

God of love and compassion, comfort your suffering world.

In the words of a well kent hymn

“We cannot measure how you heal

Or answer every sufferer’s prayer.

Yet we believe your grace responds

Where faith and doubt unite to care.

Your hands, though bloodied on the cross,

Survive to hold and heal and warn,

To carry all through death to life

And cradle children yet unborn.”

D.H. (Jan. 2010)
