The Forth Valley Circuit officially came into being in September last year, formed by the coming together of the Edinburgh & Forth Circuit and the Central Scotland Circuit. The Methodist Church congregations in Dunbar, Edinburgh, Granton, Kirkcaldy, Livingston, Rosyth and Tranent with Cockenzie were joined by churches in Armadale, Falkirk, Stirling and Wallacestone.
The Superintendent Minister of the new circuit is Rev Dr Mark Jason and we also welcomed Rev Laurent Vernet, well known to this congregation, as probationer presbyter. Laurent is minister to the congregation at Tranent with Cockenzie.
We can also now announce that Rev Eddie Sykes will be the new Superintendent Minister of the Forth Valley Circuit as from September 2018. Eddie will have pastoral charge of Kirkcaldy and Rosyth (from September 2018) and Granton (from November 2018). Eddie and his wife Susan will live in the manse at Crossgates. Rev Mary Patterson will also join the ministry team of the Forth Valley Circuit from September 2018. Mary will have pastoral charge of Armadale, Wallacestone, Stirling and support of Grahamston. Mary and her husband Adrian will live in a new manse at Reddingmuirhead. We look forward to welcoming them all into the circuit next year.
The Methodist Church in Scotland is part of the Methodist Church in Britain. Local churches are grouped into circuits, within which preachers, deacons and presbyters are shared. There are five circuits in the ‘Scotland District’ of the Methodist Church, which covers all of Scotland, apart from Shetland.
