Each year, The City of Edinburgh Methodist Church raises money for a specific project, with all fundraising organised by members of the church.
The charity supported by our church project for 2018-19 is the Friends of Goboti. This small Scottish charity has worked for the last 20 years to relieve poverty and advance education in partnership with the villagers of Goboti in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
The 2017-18 Church Project was Action for Children: The Gilmerton Road Project which is a service that aids families across Edinburgh and the Lothians who have a child with a learning disability or severe behavioural issues. It offers short break care, support for families; specialist education and leisure opportunities.
Our Annual Church Project for 2016-17 was ‘Under the Mango Tree’. This is a small charity with big ambitions. Ambitions to improve the life chances of children in the rural Kambe area of Kenya. Ambitions to share life stories and to build greater understanding of cultures.
The 2015-16 project was a multi-faith Court’s Chaplaincy initiative in Edinburgh, supporting people at the Sheriff Court who are attending the court in a variety of capacities and for different reasons.
The 2014-2015 project, selected by the General Church meeting on 2 June 2014, was to help improve water and sanitation in Ghana.
The project for 2013-14 was fundraising for a project run by L’Arche Edinburgh.
